Colorado Brazil Fest

Colorado Brazil Fest (CBF) is the largest festival of its kind in the Colorado, and also one of the largest in the nation, with 1500-2000 participants each year. Colorado Brazil Fest is hosted by Boulder Samba School, the leading organization in the state dedicated to promoting the rich heritage of Brazilian music, dance, and culture, with a track record of engaging thousands of local residents in performances and educational music programs since its inception in 2009.

Sunday June 21: New Ways: Ian Coury and Igor Souza Duo

Colorado Brazil Fest is excited to welcome the Ian Coury & Igor Souza Duo for a special concert on June 21 at Roots Music Project, as part of its concert series. Novos Caminhos (New Ways) is the vibrant meeting of two leading voices of the new generation of Brazilian instrumental music: Ian Coury (10-string mandolin) and Igor Souza (7-string guitar). United by their love of Choro and Samba—genres that are the soul of Brazil—the two artists combine technical precision, creativity, and sensitivity to deliver a performance that honors tradition while reinventing it.

Saturday June 27: Ginga Quartet & Michele Castro

Louisville Center for the Arts

The Colorado Brazil Fest Concert Series is excited to present two special performances featuring Colorado’s own Ginga Quartet and acclaimed vocalist Michele Castro from Rio de Janeiro.

6:00 PM — Brazilian Jazz with Ginga Quartet

This instrumental concert celebrates the richness of Brazilian jazz through works by legendary Brazilian composers. The ensemble will perform music by artists who have deeply influenced their musical journeys, including several whom the band members had the privilege of knowing personally.

8:30 PM — Michele Castro and Ginga Quartet

For the evening concert, Ginga Quartet joins Michele Castro for an intimate and energetic performance featuring MPB (Música Popular Brasileira), samba, Brazilian rock, funk, and other beloved Brazilian styles.

Saturday April 18: Alessandro Penezzi (Brazilian Guitar Concert)

Alessandro Penezzi, one of Brazil’s most celebrated and award-winning 7- guitarists, returns to Colorado with a dazzling solo performance on April 18th. Drawing on the exuberant traditions of choro and other high-energy instrumental Brazilian styles, Penezzi delivers virtuosic playing marked by rhythmic precision, lyricism, and infectious joy.
